14.04.09 - DBAM Announces Availability of Precision Management Console
By providing centralised data collection and monitoring of traffic and application performance in real time,
Configuration changes can be implemented much faster and administrators can be sure that profiles are applied consistently on all EP appliances. This reduces support overheads and makes deployment of new appliances much easier. Using
Secure web access means that any changes can be made remotely, providing added flexibility. Multiple levels of secure access can be assigned to Administrators, Power Users and Viewers, and by making use of Network Objects and reporting tools, meaningful performance indicators can be fed to individual users.
A Network Object can be any characteristic or group of characteristics that define a communication flow. In essence, the definition is limited only by the information contained in the packets but can be extended to include other groups of information such as departments or applications groups.
So, as well as traditional parameters such as source and destination addresses and port numbers, protocol types and application types, definitions can include performance indicators of specific applications or functions, such as a VLAN for IP phones and QoS and ToS flows and traffic levels. These details can be used for SLA and exception reporting, enabling administrators to identify and address areas of actual or potential poor performance.
Return on investment in
Commenting on the launch, Paris Arey, CEO of DBAM states: "By giving customers a higher degree of visibility and control over all appliances, PMC adds significant value for organisations that are deploying EP appliances to drive improved applications performance across wide-area networks. It will enable them to fine-tune profiles to ensure that mission-critical traffic is always prioritised and business productivity is maximized. In addition, it will enable them to achieve faster return on investment and demonstrate the true value that DBAM’s EP solutions deliver to their business.”
