24.06.2009 - DBAM Strengthens Technical & Channel Support Teams with Key Appointments

Simon Jackson joins from Bluecoat / Packeteer to spearhead technical team that will provide high level support for partners and customers as DBAM drives growth in the developing WAN optimisation market

Wakefield, 24 June 2009 – DBAM Systems, the leading provider of WAN optimisation technologies, has strengthened its technical and channel support teams to ensure that it can continue to provide high levels of service to its partners and customers as its business grows and its presence in the market expands.

The company has recently welcomed four highly experienced recruits to its ranks and is actively looking for additional staff with the aim of building a highly competent resource that will support DBAM’s progress towards its strategic goal of becoming the leading player in the applications acceleration and WAN optimisation market.

The appointments include that of Simon Jackson – who has more than 25 years of experience in WAN optimisation and related disciplines – as Director of Sales Engineering. In this newly created role, Jackson will ensure that DBAM has a world-class pre-sales team in place that is able to deliver the highest levels of technical advice, support and training to channel partners and end user customers.

Jackson brings considerable experience of the WAN optimisation market to DBAM, having joined the company from Bluecoat, where he also held the post of Director of Sales Engineering and was instrumental in bringing the Bluecoat and Packeteer teams together following the acquisition by the former of the latter in May 2008. He was previously Technical Director for Bluecoat and spent a total of eight years at the company. He previously spent many years in senior technical roles in a variety of networking and communications companies.

Commenting on his appointment, Jackson states: “I am thrilled to be joining DBAM at what is perhaps the most exciting time in the company’s evolution, as it migrates from being a provider of appliance-based WAN optimisation solutions to one that provides embedded acceleration technologies that can be deployed and used on any client device, at any time, to drive improved performance and responsiveness of applications.  This is a massive new opportunity and one that opens up the potential for DBAM to bring tremendous benefits to all organisations and software users.”

Jackson’s first task will be to recruit and structure a technical sales team that is capable of delivering the highest standards of guidance, support and education to channel partners and end user customers. Over the next few weeks, DBAM will be actively recruiting personnel as it builds up to the roll-out of its new set of solutions, which will significantly expand the company’s reach in the developing WAN optimisation marketplace.

Commenting on the appointment of Jackson and the additional technical personnel, Paris Arey, CEO of DBAM, states: “By joining DBAM and demonstrating their clear enthusiasm for our innovative approach to WAN optimisation, industry veterans such as Simon are – like our customers – providing further endorsement for our compelling strategy to deliver dynamic applications acceleration and optimisation to the wider market.”

Other recent appointments at DBAM include that of Mark Thompson as Sales Engineer and Lorna Riddle as Channel Sales Manager. DBAM has also announced the appointment of Rudy Britz as Territory Sales Manager for South Africa.

Thompson has more than 15 years experience in technical and support roles within networking companies. For the past 18 months he has held the position of Sales Engineering Manager EMEA for router manufacturer Anagran. He previously fulfilled a number of senior sales and technical support with specialist networking vendors including IP Unity, Bay Networks and others.

Like Jackson, Riddle was formerly with Packeteer where she most recently held the post of Channel Sales Manager UK and Ireland. She previously spent time in various senior partner support roles at D-Link, Computer Associates and other channel-focused IT vendors.

Britz joins DBAM from network services provider LANmetrix, where he was Product Manager for Packeteer solutions and gained has seven years experience advising and supporting customers on WAN optimisation solutions. He previously spent 12 years in various sales roles within the networking sector in South Africa.
