29.07.2009 - Hemes in to Accelerate DBAM's WAN Optimisation Message

Application acceleration leader recruits yet more strength and experience ahead of planned growth, with appointment of former Bluecoat and Packeteer Regional Director as European Head of Sales.

Wakefield, 29 July 2009 DBAM Systems, the leading provider of WAN optimisation technologies, has appointed Mike Hemes as Regional Director of Sales for Europe, adding further strength and depth to its already potent management team ahead of a planned phase of growth.

Hemes joins DBAM from Bluecoat, where he held the position of Regional Director for the UK, Ireland, Israel, and South Africa. Prior to this, between 2001 and 2008, he was UK Country Manager for Packeteer, whose revenues grew by around 800% during his tenure. In all, Hemes can boast more than 25 years of experience in the networking and communications field.

Hemes’ primary role at DBAM will be to take strategic messages about the company and its ground-breaking application acceleration technologies to market. DBAM’s innovative solutions are capable of accelerating data transmissions by up to 174 times over a WAN connection, and of increasing available bandwidth by up to 23,000 times for WFS and email, according to independent tests by Tolly Group.

Commenting on his appointment, says Hemes: “DBAM has a truly unique set of technologies that will revolutionise application acceleration and make WAN optimisation a strategic and embedded component of all remote office and mobile platforms. The potential for DBAM’s EP range of solutions is almost limitless and, accordingly, we have some pretty ambitious go-to-market plans. I am hugely excited about the prospect of helping DBAM to become the leader in what I believe will become a very important and vibrant sector of the market.”

Hemes’ appointment follows hard on the heels of that of Simon Jackson – also from Bluecoat – as Director of Sales Engineering, as well as a number of other recent additions to the DBAM account management and technical teams.

As such, it further signals DBAM’s ongoing commitment to searching out people of the highest calibre to support the company’s ambitious strategic business development plans, says DBAM CEO, Paris Arey.

He comments: “Mike brings great strength and knowledge to the team, so we’re delighted to have secured his services. With his truly vast experience of the WAN optimisation market, Mike will be vital in helping us take the fight to the market – to ensure the entire sector knows just how special our technology really is, and just how powerful and beneficial it can be.”

The fact that experienced industry veterans like Hemes and Jackson are coming on board with DBAM also sends an important message to the market, adds Arey. “We want the very best, most experienced talent in the WAN optimisation sector. And we’re getting it. That in itself sends out a very positive signal about our technologies, our aspirations, and our value proposition. Add to this the fact that more and more large organisations and service providers are coming aboard and deploying DBAM too, and our growing credibility and momentum couldn’t be clearer.”

“Mike is right. DBAM does indeed have some ambitious plans. And with industry-leading technology, solid backing, and total commitment – together with first-class people like Mike and Simon – our ability to execute on those ambitions continues to go from strength to strength.”
