Q. What is the Active Network Screen for?
A. Active network is short for active network inspection. This is a feature that is intended to be enhanced in the future. Currently it actively inspects active directory users, groups and machines and also NetBIOS users, groups and machines.
From this screen an administrator chooses the username, group or machine and assigns there traffic to a bandwidth rule. When the user or member of group, or machine becomes active the directory server or device is interrogated in order to find which bandwidth rule there traffic belongs to. The drops down lists are populated via an active directory lookup.
The username, group or machine can also be specified by using a regular expression.
